Trust & safety

Safer pet connections start with clear controls.

PETMET is building safety into account, messaging, adoption, marketplace and specialty-pet workflows from the beginning.

Emergency situations: PETMET is not an emergency service. If a person or animal may be in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency, police or animal-welfare authority.

Adult beta

PETMET’s initial beta is intended for adults aged 18 or older. PETMET is developing platform age-range checks, privacy-aware evidence handling and human-review pathways. A device or platform signal alone is not treated as a final adverse decision.

Reporting and blocking

Users can block accounts and report concerns such as harassment, unsafe messages, suspected scams, suspicious listings, animal-welfare issues, suspected underage accounts and serious child-safety concerns.

Urgent child-safety handling

PETMET’s moderation design includes an urgent child-safety category with evidence-minimising instructions. Users and moderators are told not to download, copy, forward, screenshot or redistribute suspected child sexual abuse material.

Human review and audit history

Moderation actions are designed to create an auditable history. Staff access is role-restricted and urgent cases require an external-escalation assessment before finalisation.

Adoption and meeting safety

PETMET encourages responsible handovers, public meeting locations where appropriate, independent verification of important details and caution around urgency, deposits or requests to move communication off-platform.

Specialty pets

PETMET will only support lawful specialty-pet requests. Species, jurisdiction, permit, welfare, sourcing, transport and transfer requirements may apply. PETMET will not facilitate prohibited or unlawful wildlife trade.

Report a concern

During pre-launch, contact petmet.support.au@gmail.com. Please do not email passwords, government-ID numbers or suspected illegal imagery.
